SERVICE ANIMALS FAQ's 

At the Orange Motel, we are committed to providing a welcoming and accessible environment for all guests. Here's a breakdown of service animals and the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) regulations:

Service animals are:

  • Dogs specifically trained to perform tasks that assist people with disabilities.

  • Can be any breed or size.


Service animals are not:

  • Emotional support animals, therapy animals, comfort animals, or companion animals.

A business or state/local government can ask someone to remove their service animal if:

  • If the animal is not housebroken.

  • If the animal is out of control and the handler cannot regain control.

Q1. Are emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals considered service animals under the ADA?

A: Unfortunately, under the ADA, emotional support animals are not considered service animals.

Q2. Can hotels assign designated rooms for guests with service animals, out of consideration of other guests?

A: No. Guests with service animals are entitled to the same room choices as other guests.

Q3. Can hotels charge a cleaning fee for guests who have service animals?

A: No. We cannot charge extra for cleaning related to service animals. However, any damage caused by a service animal will be subject to standard damage fees.

Q4. Does my pet need certification and registration?

A: While service animals are not required to have official certification, they must be under control at all times.

Q5. Are hotel guests allowed to leave their service animals in their hotel room when they leave the hotel?

A: No. Service animals must be under the handler's control at all times.
